16 young men from Harahan have perished in conflicts around the world. 7 of them have never returned to American soil.

Daughter Visits Her Father
Mary Ann was just 6-months-old when her father, Jules Haydel was killed in Belgium. Tuesday, she and Jule's granddaughter came to see his panel at our Park of Heroes.
Niece Visits Her Uncle
Judy was 18 months old when her Uncle Jacob Knipper died at sea in the Pacific Ocean. Today, she visited his panel at Harahan's Park of Heroes.
Nephew Visits His Uncle
The Picone Family has been part of Harahan since before it was Harahan. Today, Ray Picone visited his Uncle's panel at Harahan's Park of Heroes.
Brother Visits His Brother
Clifford was a month shy of completing his tour in Vietnam when he got word his brother was killed while on patrol in the Korean DMZ. Today, he visited his panel at Harahan's Park of Heroes.
Father Visits His Son
In June of 2004, on Main Supply Route "Tampa" just south of al-Kut, Iraq, Robert DuSang lost his life.
Today, his father and Harahan resident, Don DuSang came out in the rain to check out his son's panel.
Thomas Picone lost his life as a POW in the Philippines and is buried here. Lionel Vicknair was aboard the USS John Penn when it sank in Iron Bottom Sound of the Solomon Islands.
Felix Zeringue was first buried by local farmers in Wehrda, Germany. He was later moved to the Lorriane American Cemetery in St. Avold, France
Guy Donaldson died aboard the SS John Penn in the Norwegian Sea. He is memorialized at the Merchant Marine Memorial in Washington, DC. (not part of the ABMC)
Philip Zeringue (Felix's brother) was lost-at-sea about 300 miles off the Virginia Coast. He is Memorialized at the East Coast Memorial in lower Manhattan in New York City.
Despite having lived in the United States - legally, for 40 years; having an American wife with two boys and deteriorating health, Sudo was interned by the US Government. He died at a camp in New Mexico. He never saw his family again.
Torii gates symbolize the transition from the human world to a sacred space...honoring Harahan resident William Sudo.
Japanese gardens (日本庭園, nihon teien) are traditional gardens whose designs are accompanied by Japanese aesthetics and philosophical ideas, avoid artificial ornamentation, and highlight the natural landscape.
Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser spent some time with us today at Harahan's Park of Heroes. We are looking forward to working with Louisiana Tourism to help make our Memorial a destination point.
Warren Parks was just 18 years-old when in died on Okinawa in 1956. The helicopter he was on crashed during Typhoon Babs. His funeral service was held at St. Rita Church.
Jefferson Parish Council Chairman Scott Walker and his team visited Harahan's Park of Heroes.
