Named James Moisant Park after the famous aviator, Zeringue Park was rededicated in 1948 and is named after brothers Philip and Felix Zeringue who both gave their lives during World War II.
Additional research uncovered a total of 16 young men from Harahan who have perished in various conflicts around the world since the city's founding in 1920.
With the need for more space, the City is creating a new "Park of Heroes" Memorial at the larger Soniat Park.
Seven from Harahan never returned to our shores. Buried on foreign soil or lost at sea – they are memorialized here by the flags flown over the ground or sea where they will rest forever, so that we may never forget the heavy price of war and conflict.
